Bad Ideas Club

TERMS OF USE

For Unhinged · in force since 27 September 2026

These are the rules for using Unhinged. Unhinged suggests things for a group of adults to do together in the real world, so these terms say plainly who decides what happens and who is responsible for it. Please read them, and in particular the section headed “Quests, and the risk you take on”.

Who you are agreeing with

Unhinged is operated by RL Now, Inc., a corporation registered in Delaware, USA, and published under the name Bad Ideas Club. When these terms say “we” or “us”, they mean RL Now, Inc..

651 N Broad St, Suite 201 · Middletown, DE 19709 · United States
hey@unfck.it

Using Unhinged means accepting these terms and the privacy policy. If you do not accept them, do not use it.

You must be 18 or older

Unhinged is for adults only. When you accept an invitation you are asked whether you are 18 or older, and you can only join by answering yes; we record when you did. That answer is your statement to us. We do not ask for your date of birth or check an identity document, and answering no ends the sign-up without anything being saved.

Do not invite anyone you know or suspect to be under 18. If we learn that a member is under 18, we will close their account.

Invitations

Unhinged is invite-only. The only way in is a code from an existing member, or one we issued ourselves. Each code works once: when someone joins with it, it is used up. Each new member receives a few codes of their own to invite others.

Inviting someone means vouching for them. We keep a record of which code each member joined with and who it came from, and we use that record when we act on a report. We can cancel codes that have not been used, including all of a member’s unused codes when we close their account, and we can stop accepting new members at any time. Members who have already joined are not affected by that.

Quests, and the risk you take on

Unhinged suggests things for your crew to do in the real world, called quests. A quest is a suggestion, never an instruction. You decide what you actually do, whether to take part at all, and when to stop. Sitting a quest out, or walking away from it halfway, is always allowed and costs you nothing.

We do not organise, direct, supervise or attend anything a crew does. We are not there, we cannot see the situation you are in, and we cannot judge whether something is safe, legal or sensible where you are, on the day, for the people involved. Only you can.

You are responsible for obeying the law wherever you are, and for what you choose to do. You are responsible for consent: every member of your crew takes part only if they want to, and no one outside the crew is drawn into a quest without agreeing to it. No quest is a reason to pressure anyone, including yourself.

Any member of the crew can veto a quest, at any time and without giving a reason, and the rest of the crew should respect that. In the app, a member who is going can swap the quest for a new one as many times a week as the app shows; once those are used, the crew can still refuse the quest, and nobody has to do it.

A quest may never ask for any of the following, and you must not do any of them because of one: physical harm to anyone, including yourself; anything involving weapons or drugs; driving, or operating anything dangerous, while impaired; theft or damage to property; sexual content; or anything aimed at a stranger’s distress or involving a minor. If a quest reads as asking for any of that, do not do it, and report it to us.

Taking part in a quest is your own choice and at your own risk. To the extent the law allows, you accept the risks of what you choose to do, and RL Now, Inc. is not responsible for what you or anyone else does because of a quest. See also No promises about uptime below for the limits of our liability, and for what those limits never cover.

Quests are written by a model

Quests are generated by an AI model, not written by a person. A second automated check reads each quest against the list above before your crew sees it, but nobody at RL Now, Inc. reads a quest before your crew does. We review quests after the fact, when they are reported and otherwise.

The model writes from the choices your crew sent on the day. If every draft fails the check, or while we have switched the model off, your crew gets a quest from a list written by a person instead.

Joining means accepting this. When you accept an invitation you are told that quests are generated by an AI model and that your answers go to it to write them, and you can only join by accepting that; we record when you did. What is sent, and to whom, is in the privacy policy under What the AI sees.

A model can get things wrong. A quest may be impossible, badly judged, unsuitable for where you are, or break the rules above despite the check. Treat every quest as a rough idea for your crew to judge, not as advice and not as something we have approved.

If a quest crosses the line, report it: from the app where it offers you the option, or by email to hey@unfck.it, saying which crew and which quest. A person reads every report. Reporting from the app takes the quest off your crew’s screen at once and brings a new one, and does not use up a swap.

Your crew

A crew is two to six members. What you share inside the crew — your username, your picture, whether you are in for a quest — is seen by the other members. Your answers to the questions you are asked when you join are not shown to them.

You can leave a crew at any time. You can block anyone; blocking another member of your crew takes you out of that crew. Do not use a username that impersonates somebody else, and do not use Unhinged to harass, threaten or humiliate anyone, inside the crew or out of it.

If a member’s username or picture crosses that line, report it. A person reads every report, and nobody is told who reported them. Where something breaks these terms we can free a username, clear a picture, pause a crew, cancel unused invitations or disable an account.

The crew’s story. Each member who went out can add a line and a few photos to the crew’s story of that week. It stays inside the crew. Add only photos you took or have the right to share, and do not put anyone in one who has not agreed to be in it, least of all someone outside the crew. A story leaves the crew only as a share card a member chooses to make, which carries their own part and the parts of members who ticked “OK to share me”, and nobody else’s. If something in a story crosses the line, write to hey@unfck.it and say which crew and which week; a person reads it.

What it costs

Unhinged is free to use. Every quest, every week, for every crew. Money never unlocks a quest, a crew or taking part.

The one thing that will be for sale is a pass that adds extras, such as more chances to swap a quest for another. See The pass, and refunds below.

The pass, and refunds

The pass is not on sale in Unhinged yet, and nothing in Unhinged takes a payment today. When it goes on sale, this is how it works.

The pass costs €9, paid once, and lasts 12 months from the moment the payment goes through. It is a purchase, not a donation, so it is not tax-deductible. It does not renew: there is no subscription, nothing is charged again, and there is nothing to cancel. When it lapses, the extras stop and nothing else changes.

Who sells you the pass depends on where you buy it. The sale is made under the seller’s terms, shown when you pay.

On the web, Stripe is the merchant of record for the pass. It sells it to you through its Managed Payments service, so the checkout, the receipt and the payment itself are Stripe’s. Card details go to Stripe and never touch our servers.

In a phone app, Apple sells the pass through the App Store, and Google through Google Play. The payment and the receipt are theirs, and your payment details go to them and never to us.

Bought on the web or through Google Play? Ask within 10 days of paying and you get all €9 back — no reason needed. Email hey@unfck.it from the address on your receipt — for Google Play, with the order number on Google’s receipt. The money goes back to however you paid, and the pass switches off.

A pass bought through the App Store is refunded by Apple, not by us. Apple decides App Store refunds itself and we cannot make one, so the 10-day promise above does not apply there. Ask Apple, at reportaproblem.apple.com.

After 10 days a pass bought on the web or through Google Play is not refunded. Two things override that: where the law of the country you live in gives you a longer period to withdraw from an online purchase, you keep it; and a charge made twice, for the wrong amount or by mistake is always put right, whenever you notice it.

Things not to do

Do not attack, overload or probe the service; do not try to reach another person’s account or data; do not automate access to it; do not upload other people’s photos without their agreement, or anything illegal, abusive or sexual involving a minor. Accounts doing any of that get closed without notice.

Leaving, and being asked to leave

Delete your account whenever you want, from the account screen. It removes your account and what is stored with it, permanently and immediately, as the privacy policy describes. Your account is the same one used by every app RL Now, Inc. runs, so deleting it deletes it in all of them.

We can suspend or close an account, pause a crew, or cancel invitations when these terms are broken or a member is put at risk. Where it is not an emergency, we will say why first.

No promises about uptime

Unhinged is provided as it is, without warranties of any kind, including any warranty that a quest is safe, lawful or suitable for you. It is a small project run by a small company: it can go down, a feature can change or disappear, and we can close it. If we close it for good, we will give as much notice as we can.

To the fullest extent the law allows, RL Now, Inc. is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss arising from what a member chose to do, and total liability for any claim is limited to whatever you have actually paid us in the twelve months before it. Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud, and nothing here takes away consumer rights your own country gives you and does not let you sign away.

Which law applies

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, and the courts there have jurisdiction. If you use Unhinged as a consumer somewhere else, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the country you live in, and you can bring a claim there.

Changes

These terms can change — for a new feature, or because the law does. The date at the top always says when the version you are reading took effect. Continuing to use Unhinged after a change means accepting it.
